The Eucharist is "the source and summit of the Christian life." (CCC 1324)

First Eucharist

"The sacraments of Christian Initiation - Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist - lay the foundations of every Christian Life. 'The sharing in the divine nature given to men through the grace of Christ bears certain likeness to the origin, development, and nourishing of natural life.  The faithful are born anew by Baptism, strengthened by the sacrament of Confirmation, and receive in the Eucharist the food of eternal life.  By means of these sacraments of Christian initiation, they thus receive in increasing measure the treasures of the divine life and advance toward the perfection of charity.'" (CCC 1212)

Restored Order of the Sacraments of Initiation

In 2015, Denver Archbishop Samuel Aquila issued the pastoral letter, Saints Among Us, to explain what it means to restore the Sacraments of Initiation to their original, historical order: Baptism, Confirmation, and then Eucharist. Click here to go to the Archdiocese of Denver website to read the Archbishop's full letter. We are excited to be a part of this spiritual endeavor and look forward to journeying with each family as they prepare their children to become fully initiated in the Catholic Church.

In compliance with the Archbishop's plan, the Shrine of St. Anne will be making several changes to the sacramental preparation program. The program will be a two-year process during which children will receive First Reconciliation in 2nd grade and Confirmation and Holy Eucharist in 3rd grade or above.  Children must be enrolled in a faith formation program or Catholic school for one year prior to preparing for the sacraments as well as during this preparation period.   Children who miss preparing for sacraments in these grades will be given attention on an individual basis.

2024 - 2025 Confirmation and First Eucharist for children in Grade 3 or above

Preparing to receive the sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist is a great privilege and responsibility.  These two sacraments complete ones initiation into the Catholic Church.  As fully initiated members it is our mission to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ as one of His disciples. Parents, it is vitally important that as the primary catechists of your children that you participate in every aspect of their faith journey.  For this reason, we require parents to attend the preparation sessions with their child so that they may grow in the faith together.

Join us for our FAMILY KICK-OFF EVENT on Saturday, September 7th!  We will start with Mass at 5:00pm in the Church and then have some food, fun, and fellowship in the Parish Center after Mass!  The WHOLE FAMILY is invited!  Come and meet other families in the parish who will be participating in our Faith Formation program, Youth Group program, and Sacramental Preparation program.  Let's have a great year of FAMILY, FAITH, and FUN!

There will be a Parent Orientation Meeting for Sacramental Preparation on Sunday,  September 8, 2024 at 6:00pm in the Parish Center.

You must attend this ORIENTATION if you have children in grades 2 through 12 who need to prepare to receive Reconciliation, First Eucharist or Confirmation.  Please see the SACRAMENTAL CALENDAR of SESSIONS below.  Some dates may be subject to change.
